Should FaceBook Acquire Pinterest?

FaceBook is as hot as ever right now. As soon as you turn on the television and begin flipping through the channels, you are most likely going to come across at least a few stations discussing the new FaceBook IPO. This is, without a doubt, one of the largest technological IPOs in history. Right now, no one can stop talking about FaceBook and it is only going to get hotter as the weeks go by.

On the other hand, Pinterest is really beginning to gain some steam and recognition of its own. Of course, Pinterest can’t even begin to compete with FaceBook or Twitter at the moment, but needless to say it’s catching on and will become an even bigger social networking site than what it is already has become. Undoubtedly, major industry players like Microsoft and Google are going to look into acquiring Pinterest. Therefore, right now would be the perfect time for FaceBook to make a power move and acquire Pinterest.

This may sound crazy, but Pinterest is a website that is basically constructed by images. However, FaceBook has already become the world’s largest image hosting company on the Internet. Not to mention the fact that FaceBook recently acquired Instagram and that was a huge deal. So, in my opinion, if Facebook could acquire Pinterest, they would cement their standing as the world’s largest image host. They would undoubtedly hold a position that would be untouchable by every other company on the net.

However, Pinterest could decide to fly solo and go at it alone. If they decide otherwise, they will most likely be acquired by Google or another major player online. However, seeing as how image oriented FaceBook has become, they could turn Pinterest into a huge player online. Therefore, it would be a great thing to see FaceBook and Pinterest come together as one. Undoubtedly, it would be a social networking merger that would be unstoppable.
